"I don't see myself in that way. I never get any raunchy fan mail from women either," he told Soaplife.

"I'm glad too, because if I did I'd feel pretty embarrassed about it."

Fountain also spoke about the close friendships that he has formed with several Coronation Street co-stars.

"I knew a few of the Corrie people before I joined. Ryan Thomas [Jason] was a good friend and I went to school with Jack Shepherd (David).

"I hang out with them, Michelle Keegan (Tina) and Alan Halsall (Tyrone). We're all good mates."

After Kirsty tells him to, Tyrone tells Tommy he's no longer willing to let him take a repayment break and therefore Tommy can't go on holiday

The actor added that he currently has no plans on leaving the soap, but would like to turn to movies in the future.

"This has been my training. I want to go on and do films at some point and I know I'll be able to walk on a set and not have any problems thanks to all I've learned from soaps.

"But I don't have any plans to leave Corrie at the moment."

Chris Fountain is also nominated for 'Best Soap Actor' at this year's TV Choice Awards.
