The Daily Star quotes Joyner as saying that her recent plotlines have been "full-on", adding that she told a friend: "The rest of this year is going to be even more dramatic, because the Brannings have got some amazing stuff coming up."
The publication also claims that the actress is keen "to spend some quality time with [her] family".
Joyner is said to have already agreed a return to EastEnders and her character will not be killed off.
An EastEnders spokesperson said on Monday night (April 30) that Joyner "will be taking a break from filming in 2013 but will definitely return".
The news comes just 24 hours after June Brown - who plays Dot Branning - confirmed that she will take a six-month break from EastEnders to spend time working on her autobiography.

Jo Joyner is just so obnoxious she proved that at the NTA awards on Wednesday, fans on the red carpet calling were calling out to her for a photo, she just ignored them, but was quite happy to pose for the press !
It's only the most extraordinary people who ever really overcome rudeness and rise to a higher level.

A very strong actress. Enjoy your break. Look forward to your return. Re a clean up...i cannot agree more. Sadly PC BBC won't allow a proper clean ouit. Fat boy Arther is awful but fills what the bbc thinks is a shtreet character so he has to saty...and drag the soap well and truly into the lower ratings league. Billy is dead weight too, however Eastenders writers seem to hang on to him in case they need a stooge for a Mitchel drama.

Andy Sheppard: She could say the same about your working at being a standup comedian. Really though, Joyner's been magnifique in the cancer storyline & got a chance to shine. Jo did a great job with the material given, won the award & everything. You must be confusing her with Lucy :-) I'm glad Charlie Slater's gone (though I have a feeling he'll be back eventually). And though Billy is a good guy, he's not a very interesting character in the show. Billy, Arthur Anthony, Lucy... get rid. We need a clearout :-) Keep Mandy & bring back Glenda.
