'Hollyoaks' cast celebrate the Diamond Jubilee - picture

Hollyoaks cast members have today (May 24) voiced their support for the Big Jubilee Lunch, which encourages communities to come together to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in early June.

PJ Brennan (Doug Carter), Holly Weston (Ash Kane), Laurie Duncan (Callum Kane) and Georgia Bourke (Lacey Kane) gave the initiative their backing by taking time out from filming to enjoy a Big Lunch of their own outside The Dog in the Pond.

Weston and Bourke were also wearing the official charity T-shirt, which is being sold to raise money for the Big Jubilee Lunch and Fields in Trust.

PJ Brennan commented: "For one afternoon only, we're putting the drama of Hollyoaks aside to get together and urge people to organise their own Big Jubilee Lunch to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

"This is a great way to connect with your neighbours, friends or family to celebrate such an iconic occasion. Don't be shy - knock on your neighbours' doors and ask them for lunch."

Taking place on Sunday, June 3, the Big Jubilee Lunch is part of the programme of events to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and has the Duchess of Cornwall as its patron.

Organisers hope the project will encourage neighbourhoods to share lunch and "a few hours of community, friendship and fun" on the day.
