'Hollyoaks' Kieron Richardson teases Ste, Doug, Brendan future

Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson has teased the future of Ste Hay's surprise new storyline with Doug Carter.Earlier this week, viewers saw Doug (PJ Brennan) begin to question whether he was seeing Ste as more than just a friend as they shared a hug at their new business.

The pair recently teamed up to open a deli in the village and are currently working to get the outlet ready for launch.
Richardson today (April 13) told Channel 5's Live With Myleene: "Ste didn't have any friends, so he's started this friendship with Doug. And they've now become business partners and maybe something else might happen - a relationship possibly."
Pressed on whether fans can expect a romance for the duo, he continued: "Yeah, I think so! Doug [tries] to set him up on online dating, so when Ste does go on a date with another guy, Doug gets these feelings.
"Is he jealous that he's going on a date with a guy, is he jealous because his friend has been taken away from him? He's questioning all his emotions, and then in the weeks to come you'll find out why."
Doug's unexpected feelings have led to uncertainty over what the future holds for Ste's on-off relationship with Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan).

Richardson continued: "Brendan's always going to be in the mix. Obviously last year we did quite a big storyline - it was gay domestic abuse, which is hard to do.
"A lot of 'Stendan' fans, they are desperate for Ste and Brendan to be together. We've got 'Stendan' and 'Stug' - I'm just happy that my name's in both of them! The 'Stendan' fans are going absolutely mental and want Ste and Brendan to be together.
"But I think if we really do take a serious look, it's gay domestic abuse and we can't be seen to promote that. So he'll always be in the mix, but whether they're going to be together is a questionable thing."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with a first look screening at 7pm on E4.

I have to add a very interesting point to all the people who said that an violent person can go back to there partner if they change then now come mandy and tony go back together mandy abused and beat tony if you havnet already forgotten. so I don't think anyone can say that someone cant get backt together if they have changed and violance was there before because it has happened before. I think that changing brendan would be fantastic because not only does it show that you can change and people do might I add because ive seen it and I know.That would show it in a postive light I think.It very funny how many people jump ship when something new comes along.Its not far or right for people to judge stendan fans.

It would be good to see a gay character who has a really loving straight best friend, turning him gay is so typical and over-used.

I don't think Ste and Brendan should ever be together again, I think it would be an insult to people that actually go through what Ste went through. But I guess some kind of resolution could be found, it's not like they have to be best friends, but y'know it is a small village...

ok look yes ste used to abuse her when they were datimg, and that unacceptable, BUT CMON BRENDAN BRADY IS A CLASS A CRAZY SOB. I mean he is nuts, I mean for ste he was young, and yes I know it was still bad, but Brendan is a grown ass man and everyone knows he's gay, but he still does it anyway, because he is crazy, and he killed someone, yes out of love, but still murdered someone brutally. and stedan fans who think their relationship is hot, welll errrr.... there's issue in that, because I find it entirely creepy. I have to admit it is worrying when I kept seeing ste gettin beat down so many times, and him just going back to him all the time, its really screwed up, and any logical person can tell that those 2 together is a major bad idea. The whole stug thing can end anytime, all I know is, I'm sick of stedan and its becoming really disturbing.

Danny I agree that they need closure from that storyline as nobody wants to witness or watch anything like that.But despite all the ups and downs Ste and Brenden have had I would rather see them try to somehow sort things out and get back together again.
