star Claire Cooper
has revealed that her character Jacqui is looking for a "purpose" when she tries to help homeless teenager Phoebe Jackson.
Jacqui takes pity on Phoebe (Mandip Gill) in next week's episodes, offering her a place to stay - despite the concerns of husband Rhys (Andrew Moss).
Phoebe later leaves Jacqui furious by stealing Terry the dog and doing a disappearing act. However, even afterwards, forgiving Jacqui remains keen to get Phoebe's life back on track.
Cooper told All About Soap
: "There's something pulling Jacqui there and making her intervene - she can't stop herself.
"Jacqui does thrive off helping people. She's got a husband and a dog, she works in a pub and they just manage to get enough money to pay the rent each month, so Jacqui needs a bit more purpose in her life."
She added: "I hope she'll go to great lengths to help Phoebe and lead her down the right path. Looking after people was instilled in Jacqui from a young age, and here's a vulnerable girl that Jacqui really feels she can help, so she'll try all she can."Hollyoaks
