Viewers are currently seeing the build-up to Alicia's departure as she is facing jail for turning violent against Val Pollard
. The story is leading up to a sham wedding storyline for Alicia and David Metcalfe
Anderson filmed her exit scenes at the weekend and today (June 6) told This Morning
that she was surprised to get such a big storyline.
She commented: "I definitely can come back and I definitely hope to be back by the end of the year. But it was a huge surprise for me. I genuinely thought I would have just been going off to see my sister, wherever she is.
"And then this huge storyline came about with a previous conviction
, the fact that she's falling in love with David as well, and Justin coming back to try and take Jacob
. It was just so elaborate, I was like, 'Thank you so much, I'm really grateful!'"
Sharing more details of Alicia's upcoming departure, the 30-year-old added: "The way that they leave it is very much on a cliffhanger. When I read it, I was like, 'No! Oh my God!' So hopefully the audience will be willing her to come back!"Emmerdale
airs weeknights on ITV1.
