'Doctor Who's Matt Smith to carry Olympic Torch in Cardiff on Saturday

Doctor Who star Matt Smith is to start the Olympic Torch relay in Cardiff on Saturday (May 26), it has been confirmed.The news was announced on the official Doctor Who Twitter account on Friday morning.

Smith said: "To carry the Torch is an honour, one I thought I'd never get. I'm very excited!"
Who fans will remember David Tennant's Doctor famously carrying the London 2012 Olympic Torch in 2006 episode 'Fear Her'.
Smith has recently been filming the seventh series of the long-running sci-fi show, which will see the "heartbreaking" departures of companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill).
Smith has called the new episodes "extremely extraordinary", and said that he is "really, really pleased" with the Ponds' exit scripts.
Doctor Who returns to BBC One this autumn.

Earlier this week, Voice UK coach will.i.am took to the streets of Taunton, Somerset for his leg of the Olympic Torch relay.
"1nce in a life time experience #runningthetorch in the uK...," he posted before starting his stretch, later adding: "Its nuts here in taurton...so much excitement...#runningthetorch"
Alright, you're right, we should all get over David. Doctors change and that's the way Doctor Who goes. I get that. I've been through 6 docs total. The reason we want David is for the continuity and it would be SO INCREDIBLY AWESOME if he does it. But, beyond that, I think David was the best Doctor. I know that it's not fair. At first, I thought, oh give Matt a chance. It's awfully hard to follow David Tennant. But you're right it's been a while now. I gotta say, I just don't think Matt's a good Doctor. I was all over my friends at first saying give him a chance. But I'm so sorry to say, no, it's not working. The stories haven't been good, which doesn't help, but....

Alright I don't want Tennant back on the show. Smith is brilliant, and I love him. I'm glad he is running it. And Smith only ran in Cardiff. Who knows? Tennant might show for London :) I'd at least like to Tennant to run a little.

WHY is the comment section full of people banging on about David Tennant?! He was the old doctor, matt is the current one and has been for a while now, GET OVER IT!!!

I think David still should do it because of "Fear Her". Nothing will happen to Donna if see doesn't see him, so she got to be away from the TV.

technically it doesn't matter what the doctor looks like, if its Matt or David, because she wasn't in the episode fear her, so she wont be reminded of the doctor, or anything she did to save us. plus she met, the doctors ego and was fine so if David did do the relay she could watch until she was bored of watching :)
