'Coronation Street's Geoffrey Hughes dies: Stars pay tribute

Celebrities have paid tribute to Geoffrey Hughes, who lost his battle to prostate cancer last night (July 27) aged 68.The actor played Eddie Yeats in Coronation Street and went on to star as Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances, Twiggy in The Royle Family and Vernon Scripps in Heartbeat.

Such a great actor and comic genius. They don't make them like that anymore. Geoffrey will sadly missed.

Lovely fella, don't remember him ever playing a bad guy. But i do remember all the good guys, Rest In Peace. Come on, let's all donate to Cancer Research. We are losing too many good people.

I never watched Geoffrey Hughes in Corrie but he gave me countless laughs as Onslow and Twiggy. He was demonstrably a fine comic actor - it is very sad to hear of his passing. RIP
