The talent show star's mother Rosamond Winkley had been battling pancreatic cancer for six months.
She passed away peacefully at her home in Marlborough, reports The Sun.
Bruce wrote on her Facebook page: "Light a candle, thousands of us, light a candle."
A message on her website stated: "Bo promises she will be back before too long. She is spending quiet time with her close friends and family."
The singer had previously cancelled an appearance at T in the Park last week in order to be with her family.
Bo Bruce was one of the runner-ups in the first series of the BBC One talent show, with Leanne Mitchell being crowned the winner.
She has recently been romantically linked with her mentor Danny O'Donoghue, but he has described the rumours as "nonsense".

God bless you Bo. Take care sweets. x

Poor Bo. At least her Mum is pain free now. Hope Bo and her family can grieve in peace.

Sorry to hear that... my mum had cancer eight years ago but fortunately she survived it.
My thoughts go to Bo, her family and friends and anyone else who has seen family members and friends suffer with this terrible disease.
