MasterChef Australia winner Adam Liaw has revealed that he has landed his own television show.

The lawyer-turned-cook, who won the reality television series in 2010, has started filming the first season of Destination Flavour, a travel and food show on SBS that will follow him as he visits various restaurants, growers and providores around the country.

Liaw told The Daily Telegraph that he has been negotiating with various TV networks for the past two years and considered several offers before signing a contract with SBS.

"There were a lot of shows that were considered, but mostly they were just not right for me," he admitted. "It mostly had to do with subject matter that really interested me.

"I've always thought SBS do amazing stuff with their food programming, shows like Luke Nguyen's [Vietnam] and Food Safari. I really like their approach to food and that the focus is on food and not just knocking stuff together."

The series, which also features co-hosts Renee Lim and Lily Serna, is scheduled to air later this year.

Liaw is also currently preparing to open his first restaurant - a Japanese pub - in Sydney, and is about to release his second cookbook.
