Marcus Collins: 'Gary Barlow is like my dad'

Marcus Collins has confessed that he sees X Factor mentor Gary Barlow as a father figure.The singer, who came second to Little Mix in the 2011 final, revealed that he is always in contact with the Take That star.

"Gary's like my dad now. I'd never dare disrespect him and I take everything he says on board because he's never wrong. He's not a man you want to disappoint," Collins told the Daily Mail.
"Everything is run by him - he knows exactly what he's doing. He's also co-written some of the songs. He emails and texts me all the time, and is constantly on the phone.
"He makes me laugh because if I can't answer for whatever reason, he'll leave a voicemail saying, 'Hello! It's Mr Barlow here and you're obviously too big now to pick up the phone!'"
Collins added that, although he is proud of his debut album, he feels "pressure" to succeed as "nothing's guaranteed".

I didn't like Gary in the lives but I'm glad Marcus and Gary are still in contact :) Unlike Cheryl and Cher/Alexandra.

Sophie Quinn true. But that week was silly, they clearly were good enough not to be there (I mean they gave great performances). The public can be silly at times.

Isaac Eloi I don't think Cheryl even played her part in 2008 given that Alexandra never actually hears from her anymore. Gary had a pretty full diary and still mentored pretty damned well. I'm not so sure about Kelly personally though - she didn't seem to spend as much time, and the week she was 'sick' was terrible. It's like Rufus Hound said - if you don't want two of your acts in the bottom two, then don't spend a week or two in America because you have a sore throat!
