Josh Dickey of Variety tweeted from the event, where Gordon-Levitt attempted to compliment Blunt by saying: "Pretty girls aren't usually funny."
According to Dickey, Blunt, who plays Gordon-Levitt's love interest in the film, visibly "bristled" at the comment.
Along with Looper, the 31-year-old actor will also star in The Dark Knight Rises later this summer.
A third film, Premium Rush, is due for release on August 24 in the US and September 14 in the UK.

He insulted her to her face, of course she bristled. You think if someone says to you, "oh, all girls are stupid and unfunny, but not you because you're standing in front of me" you're gonna be all happy about it?
There's an ******* in that scene, and it ain't Emily Blunt.

I do sort of agree, obviously there are exceptions but I think girls use comedy to make up for their lack of looks in a way that pretty girls don't need to. And this is coming from a girl who is considered quite funny...

I think that this has been taken all out of context.
For starters, one of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's best friends is Zooey Deschanel and she is funny and just about possibly the single most beautiful woman on the planet! :)

So there's two types of girl, funny girls and ugly girls. Thanks for clearing that up Joseph! Though in al seriousness, he just spoke before thinking - don't for what second think he believes that.

No, he didn't speak before thinking. He added that it was his personal experience and that he was often wrong in these things, that he didn't mean it as a general statement. Which, you know, sensational journalists kinda forget to add and take his comment totally out of context.

Spot on. Most attractive birds are shallow and pretty vacant.
