Rihanna has launched a lawsuit against her former accountants, claiming that they lost her millions in earnings. The 'Birthday Cake' singer filed the suit on Thursday (July 5), blaming the ex-accountants for bad bookkeeping, an ongoing audit by the IRS, and failing to recommend that she cut down on expenses during her struggling 2009 tour.

The AP reports that Rihanna claims her 'Last Girl on Earth' tour had "significant net losses", while her accountants pocketed 22% of the tour's earnings and paid her only 6%.
Rihanna fired the accounting firm in September 2010, and states that her profits have increased by more than 40% since leaving the company.
According to the court filing, the singer is seeking unspecified damages from the New York-based firm.
Last year, the popstar sued a Los Angeles real estate company over the purchase of a multi-million dollar home, saying that it was structurally unsound.

The only money Rihanna makes is from performing. Since she doesn't write her music, she gets virtually no money from that. I'd be pissed if I was her too: my only source of viable income being taken by filthy accountants.

Isn't she worth like 145 million dollars? I wouldn't mind my accountant producing that amount for me! Some people just don't know how lucky they are and their greed overrides anything important! She should be grateful!

You wouldn't mind your accountant "producing" that amount? Surprisingly, Rihanna did work to earn her money, and I am sure if you were missing out on some 40% of your earnings you would do all you could to recoup that - irrespective of whether you are earning $145 or $145mil.

Ive said there was something like this going on for ages, probably the biggest popstar in the world and she wasn't on any rich lists etc. Fair enough she doesn't write her songs, but the sheer volume of sales should have made up for that!
