Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes 'clashed on parenting'

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's differing ideas on how to parent daughter Suri Cruise may have been a catalyst for their pending divorce, reports suggest.The Dawson's Creek star has filed for divorce from Cruise in New York after five years of marriage and is seeking sole custody of Suri.

Sources say that Cruise's ties to the Church of Scientology and his subsequent approach to raising Suri were difficult for Holmes to handle.
A friend of the actress told Radar Online: "Katie wants Suri to go to school with other children and have a grounded routine whereas Tom doesn't.
"Tom is nowhere near as strict as Katie is and doesn't believe in disciplining Suri, whereas Katie believes that's important. Tom basically treats Suri as a little adult, and that causes some major clashes over parenting style."
Holmes has apparently opted to file for divorce in New York instead of California because laws in New York will give her a better chance of gaining primary custody of the 6-year-old.

She realises this now?? No doubt Katie did what is so common these days - get married because of love without any thought for the future. Marriage and in particular parenthood is a huge, lifelong commitment which has a massive impact on everyone close to the couple, especially the children. Tom did not convert after marriage, he has held his belief?s for a long time, therefore Katie should have learnt more about the belief and its practices ? such as how children should be raised ? and discussed it before agreeing to get married and having a child together. My father believed in smacking his children whereas my mother disagreed, she knew his views when they got married, yet ended up kicking him out and stopping him from seeing me when I was 2 due to him smacking me. When I asked why she married him, my mother replied ?I thought he would change his mind? . No doubt Katie was of a similar opinion on her wedding day.

Why does religion always seem to be the cause of everything? Maybe there was another issue that didn't have anything to do with Scientology whatsoever. Regardless of who they are, it's sad their divorcing, especially for the little one. It's obvious her upbringing hasnt been normal seeing as they spend hundreds of thousands on clothes and toys. No child her age should be exposed to things like this... Let's hope this split will be amicable...

knowing tom if suri wanted to act in a years time he would probably say yes. Hope Katie gets her way to allow Suri to have a childhood similar to hers. i read somewhere how tom's other two kids love visiting nicole as she doesnt practice scientology.
