The singer-songwriter is said to have left the UK in order to beat his drug addiction in Thailand, his official website explained.
"Peter has left the building, well not quite, more the country, on his way to rehab in Thailand," a statement read.
"He left Heathrow last night and will have arrived in Thailand this morning. We wish him well. He has plans to continue working on his new songs for the album which is eagerly awaited."
Doherty has battled an addiction to heroin and crack cocaine for many years.
He spent six weeks in rehab in Clouds House in Salisbury in 2007, but relapsed shortly after leaving.
The former Libertines frontman was sentenced to six months of imprisonment for the possession of cocaine back in May 2011.
Doherty recently revealed that he plans to use lyrics by the late Amy Winehouse on his next studio album.

How is he mediocre?
He formed one of the most important bands of the last 20 years and wrote songs bordering on genius. Just because he can't handle his drug problems doesn't mean he isn't gifted
