Sister Act will end its 16-month run on Broadway after 589 shows this August 26, reports The New York Times.
The musical, which cost $10 million to produce, apparently "will close without recouping its full capitalisation". It is said to have had "uneven ticket sales" since the beginning of the year.
Sister Act debuted on Broadway on April 2011 with Goldberg serving as one of the producers and Patina Miller in the lead role as Deloris van Cartier, and went on to garner five Tony Awards nominations.
That's So Raven star Raven-Symone took over the lead role after Miller's departure.
Sister Act is a musical adaptation of the original 1992 film, starring Whoopi Goldberg as a singer who goes into hiding in a convent of nuns.

Sad. Its numbers are better than Ghost on Broadway and that's a much more recent opening.
