Firefighters worked for an hour on Friday afternoon (June 8) to put out flames in the actor's Central Park apartment.
De Niro and wife Grace Hightower were both out of the country when the blaze broke out.
According to The AP, the fire began on the fourth floor of the 88 Central Park West building, one floor above De Niro's fifth floor luxury apartment.
A representative from Fire Department said there were no injuries or fatalities during the blaze, which is currently under investigation.
De Niro, 68, will next be seen in Red Lights opposite Cillian Murphy.
