The actor and star of CBS's upcoming Elementary reportedly chased down a man tampering with a mailbox in Los Angeles on Friday (May 25).
Law enforcement officials told TMZ that Miller confronted the man, which then led to a verbal argument and a brief scuffle as the actor attempted to retrieve the mail the man had stolen.
Miller called 911 during the fight, with police arriving minutes later to arrest the man for mail theft.
The 39-year-old actor stars opposite Lucy Liu in the upcoming Elementary, in which he plays a modern-day Sherlock Holmes transplanted to New York City.
Miller has defended the show against comparisons to popular BBC and PBS drama Sherlock, saying: "You obviously look at it and say, 'Wait a second...' - but I feel there's enough differences there. I thought I could do something with it; otherwise, there'd be no point."
Elementary will air on Thursdays this fall on CBS.

While I see nothing wrong with doing another version of Sherlock, I'm not sure the casting will work. Jonny Lee Miller has had 2 other shows which nobody watched. And he was the least interesting of the Dexter villains. I just don't see Miller carrying a series in the States.

Yeah, CBS paid a guy to be arrested by police and possibly go to jail. But I guess a Sherlock fangirl is going to say whatever she has to say to prove her loyalty to Sherlock.
