Obama teased Trump again at Saturday's ceremony when the politician quipped: "Last year at this time, this very weekend, we finally delivered justice to one of the world's most notorious individuals."
It appeared that Obama was speaking of Osama Bin Laden, until a photograph of Trump actually appeared on a large screen in the ballroom.
Trump later commented that he enjoyed the president's joke and even praised Obama's comedic timing.
"I was honoured. It was done in a very nice fashion and well delivered," the mogul explained to The New York Daily News
. "He is the President, and his first words were uttered about Donald Trump."
Trump went on to insist that he was not offended by being compared to Bin Laden by the US leader.
"It was done in a joking fashion. I would say look at the forum and where it is taking place," he said.
Trump endorsed Obama's Republican rival
Mitt Romney for president in February.
