The US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will salute Lauper next month for co-founding the True Colours Fund, which encourages help for the LGBT community from people of all sexual orientations.
Lauper is to be given the prize by US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day in Washington DC on May 9.
The 'Time After Time' singer also recently inked a deal to tell her life story in the memoir Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir.
Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir will be published by Atria Books this autumn.
Lauper's most recent album Memphis Blues was released in 2010.
