Jimmy Kimmel has said he's excited to mock politicians at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live presenter follows in the footsteps of Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers by hosting this weekend's political gala in Washington DC, where President Barack Obama and other politicians take part in comedy routines.

Discussing his hosting strategy with Reuters, Kimmel promised that he will pull no punches with his jokes.

"I will feast on stupid comments," Kimmel quipped, adding: "There seems to be a glut of dumb things being said."

Kimmel went on to admit that he's had a much more difficult time satirizing Obama then he did with predecessor George W Bush.

"It's hard to make fun of Obama in general because he's a cool character. Outside of his ears, there's not a whole lot," Kimmel explained.

His series Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 12/11c on ABC.
