Goodrem told the Herald Sun: "I think everyone goes through changes, and every decision I've made has been one from my heart. I'm so happy where I am at with my life right now. But definitely I had some tough times, there is no denying that.

"It took me a second to stop and think, but I had to make better changes for my life and I was in a place I needed to move on from. I have now, and I'm really proud of myself for that."

McFadden is now engaged to Dancing with the Stars contestant Vogue Williams. Goodrem said that she "only wish[es] them well", adding: "I'm so happy and so thankful to be free as a person. I'm at such peace, I don't remotely feel anything bad."

Goodrem also said of her role on The Voice: "I'm getting to do The Voice, I'm doing my music, I'm myself again. I want to be a young 27-year-old, loving music, that's me. That is who I am and I didn't get to be me for a second."
