"I'm so sorry for crying. This is really rubbish of me," she said upon collecting her award. "I am so nervous, this means so much to me."
The 37-year-old also took the opportunity to thank her footballer husband David for his continued support.
"Without David I wouldn't have had the courage to do what I'm doing," she gushed.
The British Fashion Council explained Beckham's win by saying: "She is her own customer and this insight has created a label with many loyal followers across the globe."
Despite losing out to Beckham in the category, McCartney went on to receive the award for 'Best Red Carpet Designer' from her friend Kate Hudson.
'Designer Of The Year' went to Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, who designed the dress for Kate Middleton's wedding to Prince William in April.

I love her stuff and manged to get a dress reduced last year when she did the diffusion cheaper line and its fits like a glove is quality material and lined, dry cleaned it comes back looking like new, no bobbling nothing after over 20 wears its the classic tight straight 50s dress she did with a little belt that's been copied all this year in every dept store and by some other desingers I didn't like her as a pop artist but she is incredibly talented as a designer and her cutter is a goddess.

Funny how the original "WAG" is the polar opposite of those who came after - like or hate the Spice Girls and like or hate her fashion ranges, she is just as successful as her husband. Take note, girls.
