Go Compare has launched a new self-deprecating advertising campaign.Noting the general public's overall annoyance at the catchy 'Go Compare' jingle sung by Welsh tenor Wynne Evans (as Gio Compario), the company has launched its 'Saving the Nation' drive.
In a new television advertisement, Compario tries and fails to win over a family with his song, as they continue to ignore his advice.
Elsewhere, a masked assassin sets up and shoots a large rocket launcher, blowing up the tenor.
The markswoman is then revealed to be a very happy Sue Barker, before Compario emerges from the rubble.
Go Compare has also unveiled a series of new billboards across the country, which also deride the singer.
The large adverts show pretend vandalism over Compario's face, with the word 'Compare' scribbled out and replaced with phrases such as 'and get some singing lessons' and 'jump off a cliff'.

A Go Compare spokesman said: "The graffiti is part of a national poster campaign in relation to our new TV ad.
"Gio is very important to us, but we realise there are some people that don't love him in quite the same way that we do."
Go Compare recently came second to 'Just One Cornetto' as the UK's catchiest jingle.

Sheer brilliance as far as Marketing goes, if you do anything other than IGNORE the ad them then you are promoting the brand.

Wow, realising that your own marketing campaign is hated by the nation and yet still making an excuse to sing that crappy song at the same time! Sorry but this is a prime example of a brand pushing me to use anything other than themselves!

Wow, bit much for during Corrie that, isn't it?

How about an ad where all we see is the shadow of a fat bloke swinging gently from a noose around his neck, projected onto a wall by a knocked over table-lamp, in an bare, sad, empty lounge featuring pictures of Gio in photoframes and a simple fade-out shot of a toppled over chair with a pair of patent, polished wingtips hovering over them going back and forth...
And Alexsandr walking out of the room laughing maniacally, rubbing his paws together....
Too dark?
