The lady, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that she likes to keep everything organised and was shocked when she couldn't find her remote, believing it to be stolen.
A police officer was then dispatched to her home to help her find the missing item, according to The Tribune.
The woman recalled: "I said, 'Why would somebody come in here and take a remote?'"
The remote was found in a drawer by the homeowner after the officer had left. However, the woman insists that somebody was in her house.
"[It was] the place where I would never have thought it would be - that's where I found it. You know, I just would never have put it there."
She also claimed that she would call the police again if her remote was missing next time.
"You just can't be too careful anymore," she added.
