Adele '21'
If it seems like Adele is breaking a new chart record every week, it's because she is. With her sophomore effort 21 having now spent an astonishing ten consecutive weeks at number one, we thought it was about time to celebrate her success by taking a closer look at her impressive chart stats to date.

1. A Guardian journalist reports that the album has sold 1,754,319 copies in the UK in 69 days. That's 25,425 per day, 1,059 per hour and 18 copies per minute.

2. Since its release on January 24, she's seen off competition from Bruno Mars, Jessie J, Elbow, The Vaccines, The Strokes, Radiohead and her own debut album, 2008's 19.

3. The LP had the highest-selling January sales figures for an album since Arctic Monkeys' Whatever People Say I Am... in 2006, shifting 208,000 units.

4. Its ten consecutive weeks at the top make 21 the album to remain at number one the longest since Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms in 1986.

5. The opus has also out-performed Madonna's 1990 Immaculate Collection, which previously held the title of longest album chart reign for a female solo artist at nine weeks.

6. Last week, the LP sold 257,000 copies - its highest week-on-week sales to date.

7. It was recently certified six-times platinum by the British Phonographic Industry.

8. The album has spawned her first number one single 'Someone Like You', which spent five weeks at the chart summit.

9. The record's success has led to her 2008 debut 19 becoming the second biggest-selling album of the year so far.

10. The album topped the US Billboard chart in March, selling 352,000 copies in its opening week. It has since spent three non-consecutive weeks at the top of the tally.

11. 21 has charted at number one in a total of ten countries, including Canada, Germany and Ireland, selling 3.5 million copies worldwide to date.

Impressive, no? Question is, who in the coming weeks can dethrone her? Our money is on Foo Fighters, Gorillaz or Chipmunk... and failing that, GaGa.
