Rihanna: 'Where Have You Been' - Single review

Given it's up there with 'We Found Love' in the rave stakes, Calvin Harris's listing as co-producer will come as little surprise to most. Over a cantering electro beat, she belts out her desire to find a man who can satisfy her, ahem, animalistic needs, calling: "Where have you been all my li-i-i-i-i-fe" over a strobing trance section that ends in a synth-squelching breakdown. Like Rihanna herself, it's hectic, confident and unashamedly sexual.

This song has grown on me so much. This is the best Rihanna song, since What's My Name, imo. Also, I love the Johnny Cash song reference.

I think the build up's better than the actual chorus, which falls a bit flat.

the only thing that pisses me off about this song is that she doesn't put a? at the end of it! other than that its a beast!

I persisted this be the second single after we found love, as it's obvious to anyone who has musical sense that it was the next best choice. It's a shame we had to endure the other two singles before getting this one.
