Carly Rae Jepsen: 'Call Me Maybe' - Single review

Any girl who comes into close contact with Justin Bieber is likely to be skating on thin ice with the majority of female under-15s. That said, Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen appears to have escaped the online wrath of the Beliebers despite having signed to his Schoolboy record label earlier this year. And we're sure this video featuring the man himself and girlfriend Selena Gomez has something to do with it.

Of course, it could be down to the fact that she's also self-penned a particularly catchy pop ditty. Yes, it's full of all the usual clean cut, pre-teen Americanisms about wishing wells and innocently ripped jeans, but it's difficult not to be taken in by the charming if not sickly chorus - even if she is actually 26. Fortunately, those who have seen the official accompanying clip will know that she also possesses a wicked sense of humour.
