Those who have seen the accompanying music video for Plan B aka Ben Drew's new single will have probably noticed that it comes with a rather lengthy blurb. "I feel it has been swept under the carpet and forgotten about and it still needs to be properly addressed," he says of the clip's portrayal of last year's London riots. Look out world, Plan B has gone political.
Unsurprisingly, the song itself offers a possible explanation behind it; with Plan B himself having grown up on a poor East London estate. "What needs fixing is the system/ Not shop windows down in Brixton," he rhymes over a riff of menacing strings and gritty beats. It's a whole world (and genre) away from the sound of 2010's Strickland Banks album, but something tells us he's got plenty more to get off his chest yet.
