Tyler, The Creator on Frank Ocean: 'I'm not a homophobe'

Tyler, The Creator has revealed that Frank Ocean told him about his sexuality "a long time ago".Ocean spoke of his first love being a man earlier this week, explaining how there was "no escaping" his feelings.

The pair's band Odd Future and Tyler himself have previously been criticised for using homophobic slurs in their tracks.
Tyler, The Creator has since dismissed claims he's homophobic, telling a fan on Formspring: "Hahaha yeah, ive know for a while, he told me a long time ago (sic).
"It was just funny cause i was getting bashed as a homophobe or whatever and i kept saying dude how am i one? i have gay friends like what the f**k leave me alone haha. yeah thats my n**ga tho, s**t is hard for him but he did that."
He had previously tweeted that he was "proud" of Ocean.
Stars such as Professor Green and Russell Simons have also praised Ocean's honesty.

in a nut shell a rappers lyrics is the same as a fictional book or film. the only difference is hiphop especially has a huge fan base but equally has a huge majority of people who appose to hiphop so their lyrics get a bigger limelight im sure most of them mean no harm its just a case of people growing up and learn to take certain lyrical content with a pinch of salt

Calling Tyler homophobic is the same as calling a film writier a homophobe for writing a homophobic character.
Everyone takes Tyler's lyrics in the wrong context.

Funny, my first comment on this 'disappeared'. Wonder why. Is it libel to talk honestly? Anyway:
"I have gay friends" does not equal "I am not a homophobe". Tyler's homophobic comments in the past are not atoned for just because he has a gay friend. He is, as usual, talking out of his ****.

To be fair though, I think people take their lyrics way to seriously. I'm sure he's not a rapist, murderer, demon etc either but he raps about all of that...
