Matt Cardle is said to be "relieved" after parting ways with his record label. It was reported last week that the X Factor winner had decided against renewing his contract with Columbia due to creative differences.

Cardle is apparently happy to finally have control over his music after feeling like a "commodity" at Columbia.
"Matt felt like Simon Cowell never wanted him to win The X Factor," a source told the Daily Star Sunday. "When he did, it was clear that executives at the label didn't know what to do with him.
"Matt is adamant the decision to part ways was mutual. To be honest, he's thrilled to be working with a new team who see him as a long-term serious artist and not just another commodity.
"Matt has lots of ideas in the pipeline and he can't wait to get back out there and show people the kind of musician he really is. He's already been busy recording new tracks for his second album."
Cardle recently had a home studio installed as he continues work on his next record.

Agree with sparkle22 which is sad for the contestants.
In fairness, these shows care more about what the lady judges wear on the live shows than they do about the actual talent they claim to care about.
