Pastora Soler acknowledged the fact that Spain would financially struggle to host next year's Eurovision should the country triumph.
"If we won, I think it would be impossible to stage the next edition because it costs so much money," Soler told ABC Punto Radio.
The AFP news agency quotes the 33-year-old as stating: "I think it is not the moment, neither for Spain nor for the Spanish public, to win Eurovision."
Meanwhile, directors from broadcaster TVE sent a joke message to Soler, saying: "Please, don't win!"
The Eurovision Song Contest final will be staged on Saturday, May 26.
Watch Pastora Soler sing her Eurovision song 'Quedate Conmigo (Stay With Me)' below:

If they win they can decline to host this.. its happened before in 1960 with the Netherlands (UK hosted instead)
1963 with France (Uk instead again)... plus more occasions. So it wont matter if they win :)

Would them hosting not attract more money from visiting people etc? It seems a shame that they are afraid to win....
How does the hosting work, do those in second host?

Very accurate title there and good job reporting this story when it's already been made clear she wasn't told this and was joking.

well thats what you get for reading a tabloid style website like digital spy -_-..... They have clearly succeeded in what they were trying to do with the title: make you read the article.

Look Ireland was broke in the 80's and 90's and were multiple winners, of course the contest was cheaper to run back in the day but the successes was used to market the country in a possitive way.
Riverdance was brought to the world through Eurovision as a interval act and along with other iconic irish things in the 90's such as the Roddy Doyle films, music from the corrs, U2 etc, the beggining of cheap flights with Ryanair , TV shows such as Father Ted and Ballykisangel, Temple Bar as a weekend hotspot (again thanks Ryanair) Ireland became the place to visit and do business.
Shame we p1ssed all the money up against a tree and have nothing to show for it though!
