Adam Yauch 1964-2012: Beastie Boys star's life in pictures

Adam Yauch, one of the stars in the Beastie Boys, passed away today at the age of 47.

Known by his rap name MCA, the musician was a member of one of the most pioneering hip-hop groups of all time, which he co-founded in 1979.

With the band selling over 40 million albums, Yauch achieved recognition for directing many of their music videos as well as concert movie Awesome; I F**kin' Shot That.
