The Helm family posted a message on his website inviting friends to attend a special service at his home/studio 'The Barn' in Woodstock, NY.
"Levon's friends & fans are invited to pay their final respects on Thursday, April 26, 2012 between the hours of 10am and 3pm at his home/studio in Woodstock," his family wrote. "Thank you, all, for your kindness and respect for privacy during this very emotional time."
Helm's home studio has been in recent years the site of his famous 'Midnight Ramble' concerts, where he was joined by a variety of musicians for intimate shows.
The 'Weight' singer's passing drew tributes from his former bandmates Garth Hudson and Robbie Robertson.
Robertson penned an open letter to explain that he and Helm had recently made peace after decades of estrangement.
"Levon is one of the most extraordinary talented people I've ever known and very much like an older brother to me. I am so grateful I got to see him one last time and will miss him and love him forever," the singer-songwriter shared.
Helm is survived by his wife Sandy and daughter Amy.
