The musician, best known for the flute riff on the international hit 'Down Under', was found dead by a friend at his home in North Carlton, Melbourne, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Police were called to the house but have not yet determined the cause of death.
They have not officially confirmed the identity of the deceased but said that he was a 58-year-old lone resident of the property.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane O'Connell said: "There are a number of issues we are trying to resolve as to how the male died."
Last year, Men At Work lost their final appeal against the verdict that the flute melody of 'Men At Work' plagiarised Marion Sinclair's 1934 classic 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree'.
