The High Flying Birds frontman, who will release a new EP next month, admitted that he feels under pressure to live up to the legacy of his former band.
Speaking during the BBC4 documentary Mark Lawson Talks To... Noel Gallagher, he said: "Nothing anybody does can be as big as Oasis. Not Coldplay, not Kasabian, nor the Arctic Monkeys. In this country not U2, not any of them. It's as simple as that."
Gallagher continued: "It's not only me that lives up to that legacy - everyone else has to too. We were the last. We were the greatest. The end."
Gallagher also spoke about rumours that he was "a control freak" during his time in Oasis, saying: "I was. I controlled them all the way to Wembley and Knebworth and all the way to the top of the charts. So, you're welcome."
Gallagher's next EP Songs From The Great White North will be released on 12" vinyl, in conjunction with Record Store Day on April 21.
The collection will feature three of Gallagher's recent B-sides - 'The Good Rebel', 'Let the Lord Shine A Light on Me' and 'I'd Pick You Everytime' - as well as his recent collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, 'Shoot A Hole Into the Sun'.

of course... 'cause there's no Liam, that's why Noel was famous.
In 1994 he couldn't sing. In fact, he said he learned in 2005.
In 1994 girls couldn't fall in love with Noel, but with Liam, that was fundamental.
In 1994 boys were trying to imitate Liam, not Noel.
