Adele has spent a 20th week at number one in the US with her second album 21.The singer's multi-million-selling collection shifted a further 237,000 copies over the past week in the US, posting a 95% gain on sales from the previous week.

Tallying up a 20th week at number one means that Adele's 21 matches Whitney Houston's 20-week run with The Bodyguard soundtrack back in 1992-93, reports Billboard.
However, it is likely that 21 will break that record next week as the full impact of sales for Adele's 21 will be counted, following her success at the 54th Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 12).
The star's debut album 19 has also climbed the Billboard 200 and currently sits at number nine with sales of 36,000.
Meanwhile, Houston's Greatest Hits rose to number six on the chart following her tragic death on February 11.

I'm not being harsh, but I'm gutted that death isn't doing these late-stars any justice anymore.
It's not a 'blame', but I want singers who have sadly passed to rest in peace with something to be proud of.
Even though, most of them listed below they would be beaten in years to come - bt the point I'm making is - these 2 late singers both held records in themselves; then someone comes along and they're feated.
Amy Winehouse > the most grammy's won by a British Female - then Adele steals the crown.
same here > Adele matches (and will defeat) Whitney's reign.
Adele will be taking all the 'records' before long - leaving none for anyne to feat.
Oh well, on a happy note - well done Adele, you do deserve it though! :)
