Madonna to perform at 2012 Super Bowl

has been confirmed as the halftime act at next year's Super Bowl.
The Grammy Award-winning entertainer was announced tonight (December 4) as the main performer at the annual sports event by NBC.
It was first rumoured
that Madonna would be performing at the Super Bowl in October.
According to the official press release, her performance will be 'imagined' by Cirque du Soleil, choreographer Jamie King and multimedia artists Moment Factory.
The Super Bowl halftime show is the most-watched musical event of the year in the US, with over 162 million viewers tuning in to watch last year's performance
by the Black Eyed Peas.
Other past acts at the event include The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Tom Petty, Paul McCartney and U2.
Madonna is currently working on her new album for release next year, while her latest film W.E
will open in the US on February 3.
