Boy George insisted that Adele should give up the habit, so she can enjoy a longer career as a singer.
He told The Mirror: "If you're a singer and you smoke it really isn't a great idea. I gave up smoking six months ago which was the best thing I ever did.
"I used to try to convince myself it made me sound jazzier. It was very difficult to give up but I'm so glad I did."
It was recently suggested that Adele will not perform any live dates until her throat is fully healed in the New Year.
The star, who has sold over 12 million copies of her album 21 this year, released her concert DVD Live At The Royal Albert Hal today (November 28).

Erm... I wouldn't be a smoker if my career depended on my voice. Just common sense. But it's one of those things that you can only decide to do in your own time. She's still very young - and we only tend to get a sense of the importance of health and not actually being immortal when we're older... and BG admits himself that he only grew up in his mid-forties...

Nothing worse than an ex smoking preaching at you, And many of the great singers smoked she knows the risks involved and she has made an informed decision to continue so just let her be.
