The LP - to be produced by Rick Rubin - will be the band's first new studio album in 33 years.
The news was also confirmed on the band's official Twitter and a special announcement video taking a look back at the band's music career.
Last month, lead singer Ozzy Osbourne said that there was a "strong possibility" that the band would reunite.
"It's in the very early stages, so we haven't recorded anything yet. If it works out, it'll work out. If it doesn't, I'll keep doing my thing," Osbourne said.
The band's guitarist Tony Iommi had said that he is willing to work with Osbourne again for a new album.

Not really, but they'll tune it down a few steps so he can get somewhere near it. I reckon it will sound awesome until he opens his mouth...

I thought the four of them played Download 2005? I was there, so should (but don't!) remember.. I know Ozzy fronted it.. the only one I'm not sure about was Bill Ward, and I think they had a fifth member on stage?

Say whatever you want, but Black Sabbath that I love, has always included Ozzy as the lead vocalist

I'm very pleased for all the fans, but can Ozzy actually still sing.
