Katy Perry, Kanye West, Adele lead MTV Video Music Awards nominees

The musician appeared live on MTV from her 'California Dreams' tour in Seattle to help reveal the nominations.
"I have nine nominations? I thought that was, like, a typo or something," a shocked Perry said as she was given the news backstage. "That's the most nominations I've ever gotten for anything!"

Kanye West received seven nods - including recognition in the 'Best Collaboration' category for Perry's 'E.T.' video. Adele picked up six nominations.
Perry's 'Firework' is nominated in the 'Video of the Year' category alongside Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep', Beastie Boys' 'Make Some Noise', 'Grenade' by Bruno Mars and Tyler, the Creator's 'Yonkers'.
The video to 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)', which also features Rebecca Black, will face 'Rolling in the Deep', 'Grenade', 'Till The World Ends' by Britney Spears and Pitbull's 'Give Me Everything' in the 'Best Pop Video' category.
Perry will also face Adele for the 'Best Female Video' prize alongside Beyoncé, Lady GaGa and Nicki Minaj.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on Sunday, August 28 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Voting for the awards is open now.

Don't really know why adeles in this catergory shes only done one video off her whole album! Whereas katy perry has done 5 off her latest album! I think adele wants to up her game abit to be honest all songs and no videos is boring!
