BAFTA Rising Star 2013 nominations announced - pictures

Juno Temple, Elizabeth Olsen, Andrea Riseborough and Anna Karenina actress Alicia Vikander are four of the five female-strong nominees for this year's BAFTA Rising Star Award.Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma, 19, also joins the list of future cinematic stars, who were whittled down from hundreds of candidates put forward by industry insiders and selected by Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Kermode and director Kevin Macdonald.

The eventual winner is voted for by the public.
Last year's shortlist saw an all male lineup including Chris O'Dowd, Eddie Redmayne, Adam Deacon, Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth, with Deacon being named the eventual winner.

Martha Marcy May Marlene critically-acclaimed actress Olsen, 23, said of her nomination: "Being considered for this award is a huge honour.
"So many actors whom I admire have been recognised in this category and I'm very thankful to BAFTA and the jury for selecting me."

Brighton Rock starlet Andrea Riseborough, 31, added: "BAFTA nurtures new talent throughout the international film community so I am so very grateful to be given this fantastic opportunity."
Atonement actress Temple, 23, attended the nominee announcement wearing a floral dress and sporting flame-coloured hair, held in Central London earlier today (January 7).

The public can vote here until February 8, and the winner will be announced during the annual ceremony on February 10.









Elizabeth Olsen gets my vote too, havent seen them all in action though to be fair, the Life of Pi boy was good but we all know the star was the cgi tiger :p and cant remember who the girl in Anna Karenina played so that probably speaks volumes :s Martha, Marcy May, Marlene was a great film

Can't see past Lizzie Olsen to be honest you completely forget that there is a M-K and A. Deserves it on her own merit.
