The Hellboy helmer discussed his love of comics in an interview with Collider.
"I came very close to doing Thor because I really wanted to bring the Norse mythology," said del Toro. "It's something I'm very attracted to. Create the giants and create the more fantastical version of that.
"But it's not like I have many meetings with studios discussing superhero movies. They come to me. Normally I pass, respectfully or not. They like it, that we have a very quick response."
He continued: "I was very attracted to doing The Wolverine in Japan, because that's my favourite chapter in the story of Wolverine. But I'm not a superhero guy.
"It's one thing to like something and another to marry it for two, three years."
Del Toro is attached to a Hulk television series. He said that he was waiting for a specific, unnamed writer to become available before they push forward with the project.

The plank of wood that did play Thor isn't much better. No-one would have replaced Jackman.

Chris Hemsworth may not be the most appealing actor for many roles, but for Thor he was absolutely perfect!
