'Amazing Spider-Man' to open to $125m, says report

Amazing Spider-Man is set to rake in $125 million (£79m) during its opening six days, according to a report.The Hollywood Reporter understands that early tracking figures put Marc Webb's movie reboot on course to become one of the summer's top earners, behind only The Avengers.

By comparison, Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man earned $144 million (£91m) in its first six days, Spider-Man 2 $180 million (£114m), and Spider-Man 3 $151.1 million (£95m).
Avengers claims the record for a superhero movie with $258 million (£164m) made during its first six days, followed by The Dark Knight with $222 million (£141m).
Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield in the lead role with Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy. The movie has received largely positive reviews from critics so far.
Amazing Spider-Man opens in theatres on July 3.

@Juliana. I've always thought Spiderman was at it's heart meant for the sort of "angst" stage teenager, boys and girls alike. Exactly like twilight really; except without the boys part.

It will do well for the first 2 weeks of release, then it will die as everyone flocks to see The Dark Knight Rises

Avengers isn't the biggest Superhero movie opening. It's the biggest movie opening. Full Stop. And Dark Knight is the second highest opening of all time.
I think the Spidey movie may do that well but bomb after a few weeks. We'll see!
As a lifetime Spidey comics fan the trailers really are doing nothing for me

I'm not convinced. It tries to hard to appeal to the girly Twilight crowd when it should be a dude flick.

Yeah I just waiting for the line "Why do you hide behind a mask?" "It's because I sparkle".
From what I've seen he doesn't look, sound or act like spiderman so they're going to need to pull something our of the bag to make it work.
