Rumours emerged earlier today that the production company was working on a fifth anniversary remake of the popular movie series, based on the books by Stephenie Meyer.
However, Deadline reports that Lionsgate executive Rob Friedman has come out with a statement refuting the claims.
"We are not remaking Twilight," Friedman explained. "We will happily support Stephenie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one, unless that should change."
Lionsgate produced the recent blockbuster hit based on another successful novel, The Hunger Games. The company also owns Summit Entertainment, which has produced the last four movies in the Twilight Saga.
The final instalment of the franchise, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, is scheduled for a November 16 release in the US and the UK.

That'd be like announcing a remake of The Philosophers Stone before Deathly Hallows: Part 2 came out. How stupid would a movie studio have to be to pull a silly stunt like that?
Some of these rumours get way out of hand.

Why remake a movie that's only 5 years old? Movies get polished up, re-edited and upgraded from time to time - just look at the recent Titanic 3D. I'd imagine any 'remake' at this stage would simply be of a similar nature. Maybe the picture quality will be improved, a couple of deleted scenes added back in, maybe a couple of new scenes added, possibly 3D support - that's the sort of thing I'd expect for the anniversary but there's simply no way they'd recreate the whole thing from scratch, it's way too soon for that.
