However, Bale - who has said in the past that he will not play Batman without Nolan - stated that he would enjoy the "challenge" of pushing the Dark Knight story further.
"My understanding is that this is the last one," he told Empire. "I think it's appropriate, I think it's going out at the right time.
"But... if Chris came to me with a script and said, 'You know what? There is another story', then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work."

Last month, Nolan confirmed that he still intends to leave the Batman franchise after The Dark Knight Rises, saying: "Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story.
"And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story... is useful."
Warner Bros chief Jeff Robinov announced in March 2011 that the studio will "have to reinvent Batman" after The Dark Knight Rises.
Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas have been tipped to produce a future reboot.
The Dark Knight Rises will hit cinemas in the UK and US on July 20.

Urgh, no thanks. Bale is the worst thinf about Nolan's movies - there's far more to playing Batman than just putting on a gravelly voice.
I want a new Batman reboot that shows him as the Great Detective, a man who uses his fantastic intellect to fight crime not just some thug in a bat costume.

I would have liked to have seen Nolan make at least 4 films. Dont think I will be able to take to a reboot, well not so soon after the Dark Knight trilogy. Give Batman a rest for a few years after this I reckon.

Instead of a reboot. How about Bale doing Batman in a Justice League movie? Especially, with Nolan's involvement in the Superman reboot.

No one will ever know why after three movies it will end, with the last one being the radical with its plot. But is no accident Bane is the leading villain(he did broke Batmans back); and with Catwoman making an appropriate appearance makes sense. Will they regret it? I think they will, cause so much potential was there. It was only getting started.
