'Men in Black 3' earns $18m in Friday US box office

has ended the US box office reign of Marvel comic movie The Avengers
The movie is the third in the Men in Black
franchise, which stars Will Smith
and Tommy Lee Jones as agents for a secret government institution that monitors extra-terrestrials.
Emma Thompson and Josh Brolin star in the latest movie, which revolves around Smith's character travelling back in time to meet a younger version of his partner, played by Brolin.
According to Deadline
, Men in Black 3
came in first place on Friday (May 25) with $18 million (£11.5 million) in ticket sales.
The film, which cost $230 million (£147 million) to make, is projected to earn around $75 million (£48 million) this weekend. The Avengers
has made $486 million (£310 million) domestically during the 22 days it has been in cinemas. A sequel
is currently in the works.
