Ray Winstone, Ben Drew in first official 'The Sweeney' poster

The first official poster for The Sweeney has been unveiled.The upcoming British crime drama is based on the 1970s series of the same name. The Sweeney follows two detectives (Ray Winstone and Ben Drew - aka Plan B) from London's Metropolitan Police.

The film also stars Homeland's Damian Lewis, Luther's Steven Mackintosh and Hayley Atwell of Captain America: The First Avenger fame.
The poster was released on the film's official Facebook page, and replaces the white and blue promo posters that previously appeared online.
Steven Mackintosh recently called the casting choices in the movie "inspiring".
The Sweeney will arrive in theatres on September 12 in the UK.

Strange not to big up the film having Damian Homeland Lewis in it.

You just cant beat the original no matter how they dress it up and no matter who they cast.
I bet John Thaw is turning in his grave ;-(

Poster and trailer look awful. This has nothing to do with the 1970's Sweeney at all.

"London's Metropolitan Police Department. " Department? Department?! Some cities outside the USA don't have police "departments."
