Anchorman 2 has premiered its first teaser trailer online. The sequel to 2004's hit comedy was given the go-ahead by Paramount in March, with Will Ferrell appearing in-character as Ron Burgundy on Conan to make the announcement.
The Anchorman 2 trailer is currently screening ahead of showings of Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator in the US.
Director Adam McKay previously revealed that the movie will take place in the late '70s and involve a custody battle.
Original cast members Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner will reprise their roles, while the filmmakers are hoping to convince Christina Applegate - who is absent from the teaser - to come back to play Ron's co-anchor Veronica Corningstone.

I'm impressed by the speed at which they got these four into a studio and got this "trailer" onto the big screen. The haven't started filming it yet! It's good to get the buzz going and the word around but a year a head of screening?

Lots of entertainment events are starting to do year long build ups, especially by using online media and viral marketing. This is no exception. In the wrestling world, The Rock's return was hyped a year before he did, and the Wrestlemania event this year had the biggest buy rating in the event's history.

I agree, however, I also believe that chances are that much of it is already done. Sole reason for this is the amount of times this film has been almost given the green light to then be chucked and dismissed again. Therefore, a lot of it is probably done meaning an early 2013 release, so it's probably less a full year before this will be out.
