The Avengers is already shattering box office records around the globe, and it's not even made its big screen debut Stateside yet.Joss Whedon's superhero epic has its roots in Marvel comics, with the team debuting in September 1963 in The Avengers #1. Dubbed 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes', the original group united Iron Man, Thor, Wasp, Ant-Man and Hulk and has had a rotating cast over the past five decades.

you would have thought to use an image of ultimate nick fury who was actually designed based on samuel l jacksons likeness, thus inspiring the film makers to use him!
